Aquinas Hall Renovation Project

Project Summary
Providence College is renovating Aquinas Hall, a historic residence hall originally constructed in 1939. This project will modernize the building while preserving its use as student housing.

Project Goals
• Improve student living conditions with updated rooms and shared spaces
• Upgrade building systems for safety, efficiency, and reliability
• Enhance accessibility to meet ADA standards
• Preserve and extend the life of a historic campus building

Key Improvements
• Replacement of exterior windows and building entrances
• Masonry repairs and interior finish upgrades
• Installation of new mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems
• Renovation of bathrooms, including new ADA-compliant facilities
• Creation of modern student amenities, including:
o Renovated building lounge with kitchenette
o Quiet lounges on upper floors
o Centralized laundry facility
o Vending area and check-in desk
o Resident Assistant (RA) office

Housing & Facilities
• 114 dorm rooms housing approximately 301 students
• Mix of single, double, and triple rooms
• Hall Director apartment included
• Additional accessible single-user bathrooms in each wing

Construction Timeline
The project will be completed in phases to minimize disruption:
• Design Phase: Completed by January 2026
• Phase 1 Construction: Summer 2026 (May–August)
• Phase 2 Construction: Summer 2027 (May–August)
• Optional Phase 3: Summer 2028 (if needed)
