​​The Hickey addition will be the home for the new chemical storage facility, the emergency control center for the complex fire alarm systems and the roof will act as the observatory for the Physic Department’s telescopes.

Science Complex – Albertus Renovation

M​etal stud framing has already begun on the lower level and first floor, and the rooms are starting to take shape. Ductwork also runs along the ceilings on these two levels. Teams will work to do the same on the second and third floors.

The Hickey Hall addition steel has been erected. The second level will provide an observation deck for students and professors to set up telescopes.

Science Complex Topping off Ceremony

Members of the PC community are invited to the Providence College Science Complex construction site on Tuesday, Aug. 22 for the traditional topping-off ceremony, during which construction personnel will place the topmost steel beam, marking an important milestone in this multi-year project. The event will take place on the walkway between the Ruane Center for the Humanities and the work site. Gates will open at 11 a.m., at which time community members are invited to sign their names to the beam. A blessing and short speaking program are scheduled for 11:30, after which the beam will be placed.

The Science Complex Addition lower level slab is almost ready to be poured. The wire mesh shown will act as reinforcement within the concrete slab.

Waterproofing of the new mechanical room

Waterproofing of the new mechanical room is completed to keep the space water tight until Phase 1B begins this summer.

Work on preparing site for construction of new mechanical room has begun
