Huxley Avenue Gate

Huxley Gate

Project Overview

During late July and early August 2012, the Huxley Avenue Guard Station is being moved as part of a safety, traffic flow and beautification effort at the Huxley Avenue entrance to the College. A new Guard Station will replace the current building and will be relocated approximately 100 ft. west of its current location.

The relocation of the Guard Station will provide for the following:

  • More turning radius into the campus to accommodate trucks and buses
  • More area to stack cars in a queue and not on Huxley Ave.
  • Separate gate arms with card access to control vehicles entering and exiting Raymond Parking Lot (R Lot)

News/Updates

10/1/2012 – Huxley Avenue Gate renovation is complete.  This project has brought with it many benefits including, a new weather-tight guard shack, improved traffic flow through for vehicles entering and exiting the campus, ID card access control to the Raymond Parking Lot, and the addition of sidewalks for safer pedestrian traffic.

8/3/2012 – This project is approximately 50% complete and is anticipated to have a completion date of August 20th. Throughout the remainder of the project there will be periods of time when the Huxley Gate will be closed to traffic. Working with the Security Department, we will keep one side of the entrance open for either entering traffic or exiting traffic. Notifications will be sent to the campus 48 hours in advance of the entrance closing.
